Constitution of the
Student Government
of
Sarasota High School
Article I: Name and Purpose
Section I: The name of this organization shall be the Student Government of
Sarasota High School.
Section II: The purpose of this Student Government shall be to:
a) Provide a democratic forum in which students can address schoolrelated
issues.
b) Act as the voice of the student population.
c) Maintain a continuous communication channel with students, faculty,
and administration through the Shared Decision Making Team
(SDMT).
d) Offer a program focused on projects benefiting SHS students or the
school at large that may include community involvement projects for
students and school-related social functions.
e) Handle responsibilities assigned by the school administration.
Article II: Membership
Section I: The Student Government shall be composed of:
a) The Executive Branch
1. Student Body President as defined by Article III, Section IV.
2. Student Body Vice President as defined by Article III,
Section V.
3. Student Body Secretary as defined by Article III, Section VI.
4. Student Body Treasurer as defined by Article III, Section VII.
b) The Senate
1. The President and Vice President of each class as defined by
Article IV, Sections III and IV.
2. The Communications Official, the Membership Development
Official, and the Parliamentarian as defined by Article IV,
Sections V-VII.
c) The House of Representatives
1. The Speaker of the House as defined by Article V, Section IV.
2. Representatives of the House as defined by Article V,
Section V.
d) Two SDMT student representatives as defined by Article VI.

Section II: Attendance:
a) In order to remain a member of the Executive Branch or the Senate,
members are expected to attend all meetings and will be allowed a
total of four excused absences from general and leadership meetings
during the course of the school year (as defined by Article X, Section
I).
b) A member of the Executive Branch can only be excused from
attending a meeting by the club advisor(s).
c) A member of the Senate can only be excused from attending a meeting
by the Student Body President or the club advisor(s).
d) A member of the House of Representatives can only be excused from
attending a meeting by a member of the Executive Branch or the club
advisor(s).
e) Members of the Executive and Senate branches must be excused from
attending a Student Government meeting by speaking to the proper
Student Government leader (see above) and stating their reason for
absence from the meeting before the start of the meeting. If a member
must miss a meeting for a legitimate reason, that member must notify
the proper leader of the reason for his or her past absences.
f) In order to remain a member of the House of Representatives, a
member cannot miss more than four general meetings during the
course of the school year.
Section III: All Student Government members must maintain a 2.0 Unweighted Grade
Point Average.
Section IV: Students are entitled to use participation in Student Government on
college applications, resumes, and in the school yearbook, if, and only if,
they have fulfilled the requirements as follows:
a) Members must achieve a certain total point value for participation as
determined by the Executive Branch on an annual basis.
b) Participation will be defined by a specific criteria for each activity
which will be distributed to members interested in the specific activity.
The criteria will include the responsibilities of each member
participating in the activity in order to receive credit for the activity
and the point value of the activity.
c) All members must participate in at least two Student Government
activities or projects outside of the designated Student Government
meeting times.
Section V: Hereafter, students who are members of the Executive Branch, the Senate
Branch, or the House of Representatives may be known collectively as
members of Student Government.
Section VI: Any student of Sarasota High School can attend meetings in a non-voting
capacity.

Article III: Executive Branch
Section I: The Executive Branch of Student Government will consist of the Student
Body President, the Student Body Vice President, the Student Body
Secretary, and the Student Body Treasurer.
Section II: All members of the Executive Branch shall attend all general and
leadership meetings of Student Government.
Section III: The members of the Executive Branch will begin their terms of office on
the day election results are announced following the election at the
Student Government general meeting, and will end the following spring
when the next Executive Branch members are elected and the results are
announced.
Section IV: The Student Body President shall:
a) Preside over and direct all general and leadership meetings of Student
Government.
b) Create and/or appoint any committees that may be deemed necessary.
c) Meet monthly with the principal or his or her designee to review
Student Government activities and discuss student concerns.
d) Serve as ex-officio member of all committees.
e) Vote within the Executive Branch on all resolutions submitted.
f) Break a tie in the Executive Branch by casting the deciding vote in
favor of or against a resolution (as defined by Article XII, Section Ia).
g) Propose resolutions (as defined by Article XI) concerning projects,
events, fundraisers, or other activities to the members of Student
Government at the general meetings.
h) Be the liaison between Student Government and the administration.
i) Be responsible for planning meetings and preparing agendas with help
from the Executive Branch and Student Government advisor(s).
j) Email the agenda for the next general or leadership meeting of Student
Government to members of the Executive Branch.
k) Appoint the Communications Official, the Membership Development
Official, and the Parliamentarian.
l) Represent the school and Student Government at events on and off
campus, as requested by the principal, assistant principal(s), and/or
Student Government advisor(s).
Section V: The Student Body Vice President shall:
a) Assist with all duties of the President.
b) Preside over the general and/or leadership meetings of Student
Government in the event of the Student Body President’s absence.
c) Assume the duties of the Student Body President upon his or her
resignation or removal.
d) Serve as the President of the Senate.

e) Perform any additional responsibility that may be delegated by the
President, Executive Branch, and/or Student Government advisor(s).
f) Review the meeting agenda with the Student Body President before
each general and leadership meeting.
g) Record the minutes of general and leadership meetings of Student
Government in the event of the Student Body Secretary’s absence.
h) Assume any immediate duties of the Student Body Treasurer in the
event of his or her absence, including delivering the Treasurer’s
Report at general and leadership meetings.
i) Propose resolutions (as defined by Article XI) concerning projects,
events, fundraisers, or other activities to the members of Student
Government at the general meetings.
j) Represent the school and Student Government at events on and off
campus, as requested by the principal, assistant principal(s), Student
Government advisor(s), and/or Student Body President.
Section VI: The Student Body Secretary shall:
a) Take accurate minutes of all general and leadership meetings of
Student Government.
1. Send minutes from each general meeting to all members via
email within two days of each meeting.
2. Send minutes from each leadership meeting to all members of
the Executive Branch and the Senate via email within two days
of each meeting.
3. Follow standard format for recording minutes.
4. Make multiple hard copies available at each meeting for
approval by those present.
5. Provide the minutes of all meetings (general and leadership) to
the Communications Official within two days of each meeting
for posting on the Student Government website. These minutes
will be designated on the website as “awaiting approval by
membership” until approval at the next general meeting.
b) Maintain cumulative, written attendance records of all members.
c) Prepare a hard copy of the Student Government directory to include:
each member, their position in Student Government, email address,
phone number, grade, and first period teacher.
1. Update directory to include new members and eliminate
members who have been removed from Student Government.
2. Make updated copies of directory available for members at all
meetings.
d) Provide copies of the agenda for leadership meetings to members of
the Executive Branch and the Senate, and provide copies of the agenda
for general meetings for all members.
e) Be responsible for reporting attendance violations (as defined by
Article II, Section II) to the Executive Branch.

f) Notify members of the Executive and Senate branches in writing of
removal from office upon direction from the Executive Branch.
g) Collect and organize all application forms, teacher recommendations,
and teacher approval forms required for any student to run for
office.
h) Carry on all necessary correspondence.
i) Perform any additional responsibility that may be delegated by the
Executive Branch and/or Student Government advisor(s).
j) Propose resolutions (as defined by Article XI) concerning projects,
events, fundraisers, or other activities to the members of Student
Government at the general meetings.
k) Represent the school and Student Government at events on and off
campus, as requested by the principal, assistant principal(s), Student
Government advisor(s), and/or Student Body President.
Section VII: The Student Body Treasurer shall:
a) Maintain all accounts receivable and payable.
b) Collect and maintain accurate accounting of Student Government
membership dues at the beginning of the school year.
c) Organize the collection of money during fundraisers.
d) Be responsible for the handling of all financial paperwork, including,
but not limited to, purchase orders, check requests, and forms for
monies collected. Deliver this paperwork in a timely manner to the
school’s bookkeeper.
e) Prepare and deliver an updated treasurer’s report (financial statement)
at every Student Government meeting (general and leadership) in the
method set forth in the current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order.
1. Report should follow standard accounting format.
2. Report should include financial status of Student Government,
including: current amount in the Student Government account,
money collected from all fundraisers and projects, total money
spent during the school year, and total money earned during the
school year.
3. Report should be given orally, as well as be made available in
hard copy format for members to view at each meeting.
f) Collect receipts for reimbursement of approved out-of-pocket expenses
and submit to bookkeeper to facilitate prompt payment to person
submitting receipt.
g) Deliver all monies collected to the school bookkeeper in a timely
manner.
h) Count money collected from prom ticket sales during the entire prom
ticket sale period.
i) Perform any additional responsibility that may be delegated by the
Executive Branch and/or Student Government advisor(s).

campus, as requested by the principal, assistant principal(s), Student
Government advisor(s), and/or Student Body President.
Article IV: The Senate
Section I: The members of the Senate are defined by Article II, Section Ib.
Section II: All members of the Senate shall attend all general and leadership meetings
of Student Government.
Section III: The Class President shall:
a) Be responsible for and oversee all class participation in functions and
events including, but not limited to: Homecoming week, Prom, and
other activities.
b) Work to encourage and increase Sarasota High School spirit among
the class. Exemplify the attributes of a student with positive school
spirit.
c) Attend all general and leadership meetings of Student Government.
d) Perform any additional responsibility that may be delegated by the
Executive Branch and/or Student Government advisor(s).
e) Propose resolutions (as defined by Article XI) concerning projects,
events, fundraisers, or other activities to the members of Student
Government at the general meetings.
g) Represent the school and Student Government at events on and off
campus, as requested by the principal, assistant principal(s), Student
Government advisor(s), and/or Student Body President.
Section IV: The Class Vice President shall:
a) Preside over the respective class in the event or absence of the
president, either temporary or permanent, or simply by the direction of
the class president.
b) Perform any additional responsibility that may be delegated by the
Executive Branch and/or Student Government advisors.
c) Propose resolutions (as defined by Article XI) concerning projects,
events, fundraisers, or other activities to the members of Student
Government at the general meetings.
d) Represent the school and Student Government at events on and off
campus, as requested by the principal, assistant principal(s), Student
Government advisor(s), and/or Student Body President.

Section V: The Communications Official shall:
a) Maintain and update the Student Government website, including, but
not limited to, posting current minutes of all meetings (general and
leadership) of Student Government, and information about on-going
and upcoming Student Government projects and events.
1. Maintain and update the calendar on the Student Government
website by listing important SHS and Student Government
dates.
2. Post photographs of Student Government activities on the
Student Government website. Photographs may be taken by
any member, but must be approved by the Executive Branch
before they are posted on the Student Government website.
3. Monitor the Student Government blog on the Student
Government website and advise the Executive Branch as a
whole (or the Student Body President) of responses that need to
be made to blog submissions.
b) Advertise upcoming Student Government meetings (general and
leadership).
1. Email the TV Production teacher with an announcement before
every Student Government meeting or event.
2. Put up posters around campus informing members of the date,
time, and location of the each Student Government meeting
(general and leadership) or event.
3. Give a written request to an administrator to announce the
Student Government meeting on the day of each meeting
(general and leadership).
c) Propose resolutions (as defined by Article XI) concerning projects,
events, fundraisers, or other activities to the members of Student
Government at the general meetings.
d) Represent the school and Student Government at events on and off
campus, as requested by the principal, assistant principal(s), Student
Government advisor(s), and/or Student Body President.
Section VI: The Membership Development Official shall:
a) Work with the Executive Branch to develop methods of increasing
active participation in Student Government, including meetings,
projects, and events.
b) Maintain a Student Government presence at the SHS orientation for
each grade level at the end of the summer.
c) Propose resolutions (as defined by Article XI) concerning projects,
events, fundraisers, or other activities to the members of Student
Government at the general meetings.
d) Coordinate with specific members to bring snacks to each general and
leadership meeting of Student Government.

e) Represent the school and Student Government at events on and off
campus, as requested by the principal, assistant principal(s), Student
Government advisor(s), and/or Student Body President.
Section VII: The Parliamentarian shall:
a) Make sure that all meetings (general and leadership) are conducted in
accordance with the latest edition of Robert’s Rules of Order.
b) Make sure that all meetings (general and leadership) are conducted in
accordance with the Student Government Constitution.
c) Bring to the attention of the Executive Branch any past breeches in this
version of the Student Government Constitution immediately after the
breech becomes evident to the Parliamentarian.
d) Record which elected members have and have not stated the Oath of
Office for their respective office and notify the Student Body President
of those members who have not yet stated the Oath.
e) Propose resolutions (as defined by Article XI) concerning projects,
events, fundraisers, or other activities to the members of Student
Government at the general meetings.
f) Represent the school and Student Government at events on and off
campus, as requested by the principal, assistant principal(s), Student
Government advisor(s), and/or Student Body President.
Article V: The House of Representatives
Section I: The members of the House of Representatives will consist of the Speaker
of the House and the Representatives of the House.
Section II: The total number of Representatives shall be equal in number to the total
number of full-time classroom teachers employed at Sarasota High School
at the time of the election of Representatives.
Section III: The members of the House of Representatives shall attend all general
meetings of Student Government unless previously excused (as defined by
Article II, Section IId).
Section IV: The Speaker of the House of Representatives shall:
a) Serve as the means of communication between the Representatives,
the Executive Branch, and the Senate.
b) Introduce resolutions to the members of Student Government at
general meetings as requested by Representatives.
c) Propose resolutions (as defined by Article XI) concerning projects,
events, fundraisers, or other activities to the members of Student
Government at the general meetings.

Section V: Members of the House of Representatives shall:

Government advisor(s), and/or Student Body President.
Article VI: Shared Decision Making Team (SDMT)
Section I: SDMT representatives are placed into nomination at the final Student
Government meeting of each school year or the first meeting of the new
school year.
a) SDMT representatives are appointed by the Executive Branch in
consultation with the Student Government advisor(s) and are
confirmed by the members of Student Government as a whole. The
confirmation process for SDMT representatives will follow the same
procedures that are used to vote on a resolution.
b) Eligibility for student representatives shall be limited to rising juniors
and seniors.
c) The junior representative shall serve a two-year term.
d) The initial senior representative shall serve a one-year term.
e) In the event that either student representative cannot serve his or her
term, a new appointment will be made as soon as possible.
Section II: If either of the elected SDMT representatives is unable to attend an SDMT
meeting, the order of succession for temporarily serving on his or her
behalf is: Student Body President, Student Body Vice President, Student
Body Secretary, and Student Body Treasurer.
Section III: The Student Government SDMT representatives will serve as liaisons
between Student Government and SDMT, and between SHS students and
faculty members of SDMT.

Article VII: Elections and Appointments
Section I: Executive Branch candidates shall:
a) Have been an upstanding (have met all point and attendance
requirements) member of Student Government for at least one year.
b) Be voted into office by a simple majority of Student Government
members in the Executive Branch, the Senate, and the House of
Representatives at the Student Government meeting in which elections
take place in order to assume office. Each voting member of Student
Government will have an equal vote that counts as one (1).
c) Be interviewed by the seniors in the current Executive Branch, the
senior class officers, and the advisor(s).
d) Submit a completed application for a specific position to the
advisor(s).
e) Have an unweighted 2.0 GPA at the time of candidacy and maintain a
2.0 GPA throughout their term in office.
f) Spend no more than the campaign spending limit as determined on an
annual basis by the Executive Branch in consultation with the Student
Government advisor(s) (receipts of purchases will be submitted to the
Student Body Treasurer).
g) Present a speech at the general Student Government meeting at which
voting for the Executive Branch will be held.
h) Campaign and be elected during the last month of the school year.
i) State the official Student Government Oath of Office upon election.
Section II: Class Officer candidates (President and Vice President of each class) shall:
a) Campaign and be elected during the fall.
b) Be voted into office by a majority vote of all Sarasota High School
students in their respective class.
c) Submit a completed application to the Executive Branch including
three teacher signatures on the official Student Government Class
Officer Teacher Approval Forms.
d) Have an unweighted 2.0 GPA at the time of candidacy and maintain a
2.0 GPA throughout their term in office.
e) Spend no more than the campaign spending limit as determined on an
annual basis by the Executive Branch in consultation with the Student
Government advisor(s) (receipts of purchases will be submitted to the
Student Body Treasurer).
f) State the official Student Government Oath of Office upon election.
Section III: Speaker of the House candidates shall:
a) Be a Representative of the House prior to election.
b) Submit an application to the Executive Branch including three teacher
signatures on the official Student Government Speaker of the House
Teacher Approval Form.

c) Be elected by simple majority of the Representatives at a Student
Government general meeting after Representatives are in office and
the interviews for Speaker of the House have taken place.
d) State the official Student Government Oath of Office upon election.
Section IV: Representatives of the House candidates shall:
a) Submit to the Executive Branch three teacher signatures on the official
Student Government Representative Teacher Approval Form at the
designated general meeting in the fall.
b) State the official Student Government Oath of Office upon election.
c) Understand that if there are more students applying to be
Representatives based on the number of classroom teachers at Sarasota
High, the Executive Branch and the Senate will decide which students
will serve as Representatives.
Article VIII: Committees
Section I: All standing and special committees consist of a chair, co-chair, and
members. All committee members must be Student Government members
in good standing.
Section II: The committee chairs report the progress of the committee at general
meetings. Student Government members vote on any major decision the
committee makes, including, but not limited to, financial and scheduling
decisions.

1. Those students interested in being prom chair should make
their interest known to the Executive Branch immediately
following the previous prom.
2. The Student Body President will appoint a prom chair from the

created by the Student Body President as deemed necessary.

Article IX: Faculty Supervision
Section I: The activities of Student Government shall be subject to the approval of
the Student Government advisor(s) and the principal.
Section II: Responsibilities of the Student Government advisor(s) include, but are not
limited to:
a) Being present at all general and leadership meetings of Student
Government. If unable to attend a Student Government meeting,
advisor must immediately inform the Student Body President and any
other Student Government advisor(s).
b) Ensure that if a Student Government meeting is being held, minimal
competing activities are going on at the same time in order to maintain
focus on the activities of Student Government.
c) Fully participate in all facets of prom including ticket sales and
waivers, and the set-up and break-down of prom.
d) Maintain communication with the teachers in charge of in-school
assemblies and other activities and with administrators about the
activities of the school and Student Government.
e) Notify faculty community leaders about their community’s need to
select the appropriate number of Representatives (as necessary), the
activities of Student Government, and the duties of Representatives.
f) Maintain communication with the Executive Branch about all Student
Government and Sarasota High School activities and issues.
g) Establish, encourage, and support a parent advocacy group to aid in
Student Government activities, including, but not limited to, the set-up
and break-down of prom.
h) Provide leadership and advice to all members of Student Government.
Article X: Meetings
Section I: The Executive Board and the Senate must attend Student Government
leadership meetings regularly scheduled to occur seven days prior to each
general Student Government meeting, unless deemed unnecessary.
Section II: Members of the Executive Branch and the Senate Branch will be expected
to attend every general and leadership meeting of Student Government
from 2:30 – 3:15 p.m. Members of the House of Representatives will be
expected to attend every general meeting of Student Government from
2:30 – 3:15 p.m. All members must stay until the meeting has been
officially adjourned. Attendance at a meeting mandates staying until the
meeting is adjourned or until a member is personally excused (as defined
by Article II, Section II).

Section III: The Student Body President shall call additional general and leadership
meetings of Student Government when it is deemed necessary. However,
meetings will be held at a minimum of twice each month.
Section IV: Members must be given 24-hours notice before each meeting. All
meetings must be advertised through school announcements at least 24-
hours before the meeting.
Section V: Student Government shall conduct its meetings according to this
Constitution and the latest edition of Robert’s Rules of Order.
Section VI: Three members of the Executive Branch must be present to constitute a
quorum. Four members of the Senate must be present to constitute a
quorum. One fifth of the members of the House of Representatives shall
constitute a quorum. A majority vote of the quorum number is necessary
to pass any resolution. All three branches must have a quorum present to
vote on a resolution.
Article XI: Resolutions
Section I: All members in good standing have the power to propose resolutions
concerning projects, events, fundraisers, or other activities to the members
of Student Government at the general meetings.
Section II: Resolutions must be submitted to the appropriate leader at the beginning
of a general meeting to be presented at that meeting.
a) Any member of the Executive Branch may present a resolution at a
general meeting.
b) Members of the Senate may present a resolution at a general meeting.
c) Members of the House of Representatives must submit their resolution
to the Speaker of the House.
Section III: All resolutions must be written and must follow the general format for
Student Government Resolutions.
a) Resolutions must contain the following information: the purpose of the
project, the cost of the project, the students who will be responsible for
doing the project, the role of the Student Government advisor(s) in the
project, and any other pertinent information.
b) Resolutions will be read aloud by the appropriate leader to all
members in attendance at the general meetings.

Section IV: Following the reading of the resolution, members will participate in
organized discussion regarding the resolution as guided by Robert’s Rules
of Order and enforced by the Parliamentarian.
Article XII: Voting on Resolutions
Section I: If a resolution is passed (voted in favor of) by a simple majority of the
members of that branch, then the resolution has passed in that branch.
a) A simple majority of the Executive Branch is defined by three of the
four members voting in favor of or against a resolution. If the votes of
the Executive Branch are split on any resolution, the Student Body
President shall cast the deciding vote in favor or against the resolution.
b) In the event of a tie in the Senate, the Student Body Vice President
(who serves as President of the Senate) shall break the tie and cast the
deciding vote on the resolution.
c) In the event of a tie in the House of Representatives, the Speaker of the
House shall break the tie and cast the deciding vote on the resolution.
d) If a Representative is unable to attend a general Student Government
meeting but wishes to vote on a resolution that has already been added
to the agenda, the member must submit his or her vote in writing
(including his or her signature and position) to the Speaker of the

e) If a member of the Executive Branch or the Senate is unable to attend
a general Student Government meeting but wishes to vote on a
resolution that has already been added to the agenda, the member must
submit his or her vote in writing (including his or her signature and
position) to the Student Body President or the Student Government
advisor(s).
Section II: A resolution is passed if all three branches approve the resolution.
a) If a resolution is passed in only two of the three branches, the two
branches that voted in favor of the resolution must vote again, and
must pass the resolution by a vote of 2/3 of the members in each of the
two branches.
b) If a resolution is passed in only one of the three branches, the
resolution fails, but can be reintroduced and re-voted on after revisions
are made.
c) If a resolution is not passed in any of the branches, the resolution fails
but can be reintroduced and re-voted on after revisions are made.

Article XIII: Vacancy and Removal from Office
Section I: The Executive Branch:
a) If for any reason the office of the Student Body President is vacant, the
Student Body Vice President shall become Student Body President.
b) If a member of the Executive Branch resigns from office, voting (by a
simple majority in each branch) will be held at the next general
Student Government meeting to select a new officer.
c) If a member of the Executive Branch violates the attendance
requirement, the member will be removed from office, and voting (by
a simple majority in each branch) will be held at the next general
Student Government meeting to select a new officer.
d) If it becomes apparent to the Executive Branch and Student
Government advisor(s) that a member of the Executive Branch is
failing to perform his or her duties, the Student Government advisor(s)
may call an emergency meeting of the Executive Branch to consider
the facts and any reason why the office shall not be declared vacant.
1. The Student Government advisor(s) shall preside at this
meeting with the principal or his or her designee acting as an
ex-officio member.
2. The member of the Executive Branch in question can offer to
the people in attendance any defense to the allegations.
3. If the other three members of the Executive Branch feel that it
is in the best interest of Student Government and the student
population of Sarasota High School for the member of the
Executive Branch to be removed from office, they will ask for
the resignation of the Executive Branch member.
4. If a resignation is not offered, and if the principal or his or her
designee feels that the removal of the Executive Branch
member is necessary for the well being of Student Government
and the Sarasota High School student population, he or she
shall authorize the advisor(s) to call an emergency general
Student Government meeting.
d) The Student Government advisor(s) shall preside at this meeting. The
officer shall be allowed to present his defense to the members present.
Then the advisor shall put the following question before the Student
Government: “Shall this office of Student Government be declared
vacant?” A quorum (as defined by Article X, Section VI) of each
branch must be present to vote on the removal of the member of the
Executive Board. If two-thirds of the voting members present vote in
the affirmative, then the office shall be declared vacant.

Section II: The Senate:
a) If the President of a class resigns from office, the Vice President shall
become the President of the class, and a new Vice President will be
appointed by the Executive Branch subject to the approval of the
Student Body President and the Student Government advisor(s).
b) If a class officer violates the attendance requirement, the class officer
will be removed from office, and voting (by a simple majority in each
branch) will be held at the next general Student Government meeting
to select a new class officer.
c) If for any reason the Student Body President or the Student
Government advisor(s) feels that a member of the Senate Branch
should be removed from office, a vote will be held in all three
branches to determine if the member will be removed from office. The
voting will follow the same procedures that are used to vote on a
resolution.
Section III: The House of Representatives:
a) The Speaker of the House
1. If the Speaker of the House resigns from office, voting (by a
simple majority within the House of Representatives) will be
held at the next general Student Government meeting to select
a new Speaker.
2. If the Speaker of the House violates the attendance
requirement, they will be removed from office, and voting (by
a simple majority within the House of Representatives) will be
held at the next general Student Government meeting to select
a new Speaker.
3. If for any reason the Student Body President or the Student
Government advisor(s) feels that the Speaker of the House
should be removed from office, a vote will be held in all three
branches to determine if the member will be removed from
office. The voting will follow the same procedures that are
used to vote on a resolution.
b) The Representatives of the House
1. If a Representative resigns from office, a new Representative
will be appointed by the Executive Branch or Student
Government advisor(s) based on non-voting members who
have showed consistent attendance and interest in Student
Government.
2. If a Representative violates the attendance requirement, they
will be removed from office, and a new Representative will be
appointed by the Executive Branch or Student Government
advisor(s) based on non-voting members who have showed
consistent attendance and interest in Student Government.

3. If for any reason the Executive Branch, members of the Senate,
or the Student Government advisor(s) determines that a
Representative should be removed from office, a new
Representative will be appointed by the Executive Branch and
the Senate based on non-voting members who have showed
consistent attendance and interest in Student Government.
Article XIV: Amendments
This Constitution can only be amended by a two-thirds vote of every
branch of Student Government.
Article XV: Ratification
This Constitution will become effective immediately after the
endorsement of the principal or his or her designee, the Student
Government advisor(s), and the majority vote of the Student Government.
