First General Meeting
August 25, 2008
2:30 pm
I. Call to Order
Officers present: Student Body President Grier Ferguson, Vice President Preston Harcup, Student Body Secretary Claire Stottlemyer, Student Body Treasurer Rebecca Phaff, Parlimentarian Kylie Gardner, Communications Official Sarah Singer, and Membership Development Official Kate Schlabaugh.
Advisor present: Mr. Baeszler
Administrator present: Mr. Jones
II. Kylie introduces parliamentary procedures
Explains procedures for leaving meetings, making a motion, etc
III No previous minutes to approve
IV. Treasurer's report: $42,947.94
V. Sold 515 agenda books, can still be purchased from Mr. Jones or Ms. Freeman for $3.00
VI. Ratification of constitution
Motion to approve – Tyler Gibbens
Second – Dan Schultz
Constitution is ratified
VII. Prom – Leigh Fairey
a. Theme – Under the Sea
b. Venue booked
c. Decorator booked
d. DJ booked
e. Food booked
VIII. Elections –
a. Forms distributed to members of the House
b. Requires 3 teacher signatures
c. Leadership will select representatives
d. Representatives will communicate between classes
e. Class presidents and vice presidents will focus on school spirit
f. Will elect Speaker of the House on October 6, 2008
g. Class officer elections will be held on Sept 22-26
IX. Spirit Contest – Ms. Dweck
Winning school will be on TV
Celebrity pep rally
Seniors get free grad night
Morning marches will be filmed and sent in
Golf cart decorating
Spirit Week – homecoming and RHS game
Radio station and news channels
Starts September 2 – November 4
X. RHS and SHS – Mr. Jones speaks to group about recent incidents between two schools and is trying to bridge gap.
